You are invited to attend free talks that are designed to enrich and strengthen your faith. A different talk is given via video conference every Wednesday morning from October through early April except during the Christmas season. These talks are aired live at
  • Our Lady of Light Parish
    19680 Cypress View Drive
    Fort Myers, FL 33967,
  • St Leo the Great
    28290 Beaumont Road
    Bonita Springs FL 34134
  • Ann Nevins Library, Institute for Catholic Studies and Formation, Arcadia
  • St Agnes, Naples
  • Our Lady of Grace, Avon Park
  • Our Lady of Mercy, Boca Grande
  • St Martha, Sarasota
  • St Patrick, Sarasota
  • St Joseph, Brandenton

  • They begin at 9:00am and end at 10:15am.

If you attend a session you will be able to interact with other attendees and participate in a question and answer session with the presenter at the end of the talk. There is no obligation to sign up for the series or call ahead to reserve a seat.

Each talk is made available on the internet as soon as possible and can be viewed at Again, there is no charge for viewing these videos. All of the talks in the series, dating back to October, 2014, are available. Notes and book recommendations are included for some. The topics range widely: the liturgical season, prayer, how to explain or defend our faith, on Pope Francis’ teachings, “Who You Are Is How You Pray”, “Don’t Be the Grinch Who Stole Christmas”.

Each new talk is added to the top of the page so you will find the talks listed in reverse chronological order. Each talk is independent of the others; you need not view them in order. A list of the titles in the order you will find them on the Institute website is given further down the page.

Here are some icons with special functions that you may not be familiar with:
    • play icon: triangle pointing right PLAY: Clicking on this symbol in the lower left corner of the video box will start (or restart) the video.
    • pause icon: equal sign on its side PAUSE. This symbol replaces the Play symbol while the video is playing. If you need to interrupt your viewing but wish to continue later, click on it.
    • full screen icon: arrows pointing out FULL SCREEN. This symbol is found in the lower right area of the video. Clicking on it will let you view the video on the entire screen of your device. This handy capability lets you see more clearly and avoid being distracted by other stuff on your screen. Of course, at the end of the video you will need to return to the normal format.
    • exit full screen: icon arrows pointing in EXIT FULL SCREEN. This symbol replaces the Full Screen symbol when you are in full screen mode. Clicking on it will reduce the video to its original size on your screen. Pressing the ESC (escape) button on your keyboard will normally accomplish the same thing.

The AFFV Faith Formation Videos button in the green menu at the top left of this page and most of the website pages will take you directly to the webpage containing the videos. Please note that pressing this button takes you out of this website.

The talks are presented by the Institute for Catholic Studies and Formation, an organization developed by the Diocese of Venice. They are given by priests and by religious or lay people with degrees in Theology.
